Phase IV Clinical Trials → Use in combination with other products

Phase III trials are generally used to compare the current best practice therapy to the novel treatment being developed. As such, the drug being studied is often not used in combination with other drugs. People in the community may be using multiple other drugs for issues not related to the condition this new drug is treating. A phase IV clinical trial can evaluate the efficacy and safety of new drugs when they are used in combination with other drugs.
